Spending huge amounts of time, effort, money and resources into raising somebody else’ children is not mature nor wise. My parents spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to send me to the best private schools and an Ivy League school. That’s a quarter of a million dollars that my parents could have put into their own retirement. In Asian cultures, parents can expect children to take care of them and pay them back so they can retire comfortably when they get old. On the other than, parents cannot expect somebody else’ bloods to do that. I have seen old white men who have spent a lot of money into raising kids fathered by other men because they married single mothers. Often they are divorced from those single mothers later, and now they live in poverty because they used their money on somebody else’ kids, money that they could have put into their own savings and retirement. Those kids are some other guys’ blood, so they do not feel obligated to take care of the men who had spent the money and efforts into taking care of them. That is just sad.

They have learned how to handle any type of situation that comes their way, how to juggle multiple distractions and tasks at a time, and the importance to keep trying and moving forward. All the normal rules of dating are thrown out the window. One of the biggest myths about single moms is that we are clingy and wanting to settle down right away. While this is true for some, the majority of single moms, the exact opposite is true.
We are so consumed and focused on just getting by and handling the day to day responsibilities and tasks that there is no time to daydream or be needy. Single Moms need Space! Single moms are probably the busiest people on earth. We are used to being independent and take charge kind of girls, and running nonstop everyday; having someone smother us, vie for our attention, and try to take control is not what we need.
We need our space to do the things that need to get done and unwind in our own way. Between our jobs, home, and raising kids, the last thing we have time for are immature games or worrying when or if a guy will call. Stay in front of a Single Moms mind. Dating Tips for Single Parents
Advice to a Newly Single Mom: Mommy-hood sprung on you like flowers in the springtime, after the stork dropped a bundle of joy at your door and forgot to leave the dad. Devastating, but not the end of the world. Being single is not a disease. Being a single mom is not a handicap.
It’s been five years since I first wrote about this topic and going swimming with your kids, but I continue to receive emails and comments about that post. I decided it was time to revisit why I believe we women should wear a swimsuit – with some new and old thoughts.
I am 34 years old, divorced four years. I was married for ten years, have four beautiful boys under 9 and have a very fulfilling and successful career. My life is happy, but I really would love to share it with someone… but dating when you have FOUR kids is like the Mt Everest of the dating world! It seems almost impossible for men to see past that. Well, let me clarify: I have an outgoing personality and seem to be asked out a lot… we usually go on a few dates, everything is going wonderful… but nobody ever COMMITS.
I am SICK of feeling used. I am sick of being treated like a piece of ass, and treated like I must be desperate because I have kids. Even if I really take my time getting to know someone before we become intimate… it seems that sex is all they continue to want. Do I need to be a nun in order to find someone who can actually see a relationship with me? Is it unreasonable that I am hoping someone could take me seriously or see my worth? I believe I have a lot to offer — I am caring, kind, warm, loyal and intelligent.
There is more to me than a MILF.

For the bachelor not yet burdened with a family, few scenarios are as daunting as dating a single mother. You may have been with a woman who was close to her family. You may have had to explain yourself to an overprotective father or brother, shotgun in hand. You may have had to bear the impossible weight of maternal expectations but nothing, I repeat nothing, can prepare you for the challenge of dating a single mother.
The usual player approach will not work. Nor will false compassion, where you feign interest in order to add another notch to your bedpost. In fact, if you attempt to use a routine from your vaunted repertoire to most single mothers, you will face a swift rebuke.
Marriage and the Single Mom: Some Thoughts
Lots of my friends are divorced single parents, but not many have been single from the beginning, like me. I love taking care of my daughter. Let me start by saying, there are good single mothers in our society and I applaud those women. They work tirelessly, with little or no help, to see that their children are provided for and well rounded. The sacrifices they make for their families cannot be measured in any lifetime. This clarion call is not about those women. This is about the numerous modern day single moms who set their sons on a sure path of rebellion, disrespect and dishonor.
Most of those boys will grow up to be unproductive men in our society. For irrefutable proof one only needs to examine: The high school drop out rate amongst boys from single-family homes. The incarceration statistics for boys raised by single moms. Am I attacking or demonizing single mothers? A thousand times no! I am dealing with a critical issue that has devastated multiple generations.
